Hopping aboard a sightseeing bus is one of the best ways to explore Vienna and see the most iconic monuments and tourist attractions.

Big Bus Vienna

The Big Bus sightseeing buses are a convenient and comfortable way to discover the city of Vienna. Tickets are available for 24 or 48 hours, and you can hop on and off the bus as often as you like to explore the Austrian capital.

There are 2 routes with 22 stops at different monuments and points of interest such as the Opera House, Schönbrunn Palace and Belvedere. All of this with commentary in English during the tour so that you can acquire the necessary knowledge and listen to the necessary explanations of what you are seeing at any moment.

Tickets and Routes

The Vienna Big Bus has 2 types of ticket, one lasts 24 hours, during which you can do either of the 2 routes for an unlimited number of hours:

  • Red line: 1.5-hour route with departures every hour from 9:30 am to 5 pm
  • Blue line: 1.5-hour route with departures every hour from 9:45 am to 5:15 pm

The other ticket lasts 48 hours, during which, as well as everything mentioned in the 24-hour ticket, also includes:

  • Walking tour of the centre of Vienna: lasts 90 minutes
  • Tour with an audioguide: available in 6 languages via an app that you'll have to download
  • Boat ride or a ticket to the Vienna Ferris Wheel: the Danube boat ride lasts between 75 and 115 minutes.

Vienna Sightseeing

With 4 different routes, the Vienna Sightseeing tourist bus allows you to explore the city of music in a practical way and admire its main sights in comfort:

  • Red line: starts at stop 2 (History of Art Museum), and runs along the Ringstrasse with stops at the State Opera, the City Hall, the University, the Danube Pier, Heroes' Square and St. Stephen's Cathedral.
  • Blue line: starts at stop 1 (State Opera) and goes to more distant parts such as the Prater amusement park, the Danube Park, the Danube Tower, and the Kunsthaus museum.
  • Yellow line: starts at stop 1 (State Opera) and brings you to the Schönbrunn and Belvedere palaces.
  • Green line (available from 14th June - 6th October 2024): starts at stop 47 (Votiva Church). This route takes you to the picturesque wine-growing village of Grinzing and the Kahlenberg hill. Please be aware that this line is only available for the 48 and 72 hour tickets.

Schedule​

Vienna's sightseeing buses operate daily from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. The bus frequency is between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the day.
