Public Transport Costs in Vienna

All of the tickets mentioned below are conveniently valid for journeys on the metro, bus and tram networks.
Single ticket price
- Single ticket: € 2.40 (US$ 2.52)
Tickets must be validated at the U-Bahn station or when you get on the bus or tram.
Vienna travel passes
These travel passes allow unlimited use of the public transport networks for the duration of their validity, activated from the time of first use:
- 24-hour pass: € 8 (US$ 8.41)
- 48-hour pass: € 14.10 (US$ 14.83)
- 72-hour pass: € 17.10 (US$ 17.99)
- 7-Day Vienna Card: € 35 (US$ 36.82)
- Weekly pass:€ 19.70 (US$ 20.72) digital and non-transferable, € 22.60 (US$ 23.77) paper and transferable (Valid from validation for seven consecutive calendar days).
Other travel cards
The Vienna City Card includes unlimited travel for one adult and one child under 15 years old, plus discounts and benefits at museums, shops, restaurants and other attractions around the city. It is valid for the specified duration from the time it is first used.

Where to buy tickets?
Tickets are operated by Wiener Linien and can be purchased at ticket offices or machines in subway stations and tobacconists or by app via cell phone.
Bus and tram drivers also sell single tickets but, when buying tickets this way, the price of the tickets is € 2.60 (US$ 2.73) (children € 1.40 (US$ 1.47)) instead of € 2.40 (US$ 2.52).
Many tobacconists (Tabak Trafik) also sell tickets - look for the blue "WL" logo outside the shops.
Single tickets can also be bought on board trams and buses but they cost more (€ 2.60 (US$ 2.73) instead of € 2.40 (US$ 2.52)).
Free and discounted rides
In Vienna, all children up to the age of six travel free of charge on public transport. Children and young people under 15 years of age can use the Wiener Linien service free of charge on Sundays, public holidays and during school vacations in the country. In addition, single tickets (€ 1.50 (US$ 1.57)) are available at a discount for seniors over 65 years of age. Dogs can enter the train or bus wearing a muzzle for a fee (€ 1.20 (US$ 1.26)).
